Who Do You Teach?
I am passionate about what I do and welcome any teenager or adult who wants to learn to sing, discover their voice, work on new repertoire, feel more confident when speaking or presenting, or simply learn a new life skill which will help to manage social anxiety, shyness and nerves. I teach:
- Absolute beginners (from the age of 13 to very mature adult!).
- ABRSM and Trinity College London singing exam preparation.
- Choral Scholarship and Conservatoire preparation.
- Performance Skills training for instrumentalists.
What Styles of Music Do You Teach?
Although classically trained, I am comfortable teaching a variety of styles. I treat each voice individually and give singers the technique which will allow their unique sound to grow and flourish.
I am currently teaching works by Mozart, Beyoncé, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Schubert, Whitney, Lloyd Webber, Schumann, Purcell… and during my career I have performed songs and arias in Italian, French, German, Spanish, Czech, Latin, English and American. I have also spent the past 15 years touring my one-woman show and therefore give a lot of attention to programming, set-list-building, developing one’s own personal style when talking to an audience, and performance skills.

What Is Your Teaching Style?
I have two main aims:
- To help you find and cherish that beautiful, warm, relaxed and free sound which lies within us all!
- For you to enjoy connecting with your voice and to reap the benefits: increased confidence, healthy lungs, reduced blood pressure & anxiety, improved posture!
At the beginning of each lesson we free up the mind and body by jumping and dancing, yes, jumping and dancing! This shakes away the day, gets the body back to neutral and off we go with breathing, vocal exercises and tonal exploration. Although considered down-to-earth (for a singer, that is…!), I might occasionally say the words, ‘just part the Red Sea at this point’ or ‘be that hamster in the wheel’ or ‘hula hoop your way up to that note’. Tried and very tested methods to free up the voice by engaging the entire body.
When interpreting repertoire we focus on the words, creating beautiful lines of sound and maintaining the energy in between the breaths. The lessons are always fun, collaborative & engaging, and opportunities for exploration, challenge and fulfilment.
Where Do You Teach?
Much of my work is now online and this has been surprisingly effective and rewarding. I send over the Zoom Audio Settings in advance so that the computer doesn’t cut out the higher register, and I ask for you to be in a space in which you are able to stand and move about with ease.
Whenever the government guidelines permit (!), I also have a face-to-face teaching practice both in London NW7 and Suffolk IP5.
How Much Do You Charge?
I offer a no-obligation, complimentary consultation lesson during which we jump about, make noises and get to know one another. If sparks fly and all is well, then we work out the goal, any specific needs and off we go!
£60 an hour; £45 for 45 minutes (most popular); £30 for half an hour (for all beginners and under 16s)
I schedule an extra 15 minutes in between lessons to allow for rapport-building and any wifi issues to settle at the beginning of the session. For details of discounts for block bookings and group workshop prices, please go to Contact.
